Fagan Institute at East (FIE) is a cultural exchange After-School Dance Program at East High School supported by Garth Fagan Dance. It is for students ages 10-19 and provides a world class opportunity for positive cultural exchange using Fagan Technique. Fagan Technique is the Black dance technique used to create the movement of The Lion King on Broadway and tours around the globe. Led by FIE Director Nicolette Ferguson and certified instructors, FIE provides educational opportunities and career direction for any participants and young Black adults interested in dance fields. Garth Fagan Dance (GFD) is a leading Black cultural institution and reservoir of Fagan Dance Technique.

The Fagan Institute at East (FIE) opportunity is free of charge and provided by significant support from Creatives Rebuild

New York, The Konar Foundation, the Rochester City School District, and Garth Fagan Dance.

Schedule: 

 

Lower School:

6th-8th Grade - 3:00-4:00 PM 

Upper School:

9th-12th Grade - 3:30-4:30 PM

(with additional enrichment opportunities)
