Garth Fagan Receives Lifetime Achievement Award!
We are so proud to announce that acclaimed and Tony-award winning Garth Fagan received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Dance Guild during its 2017 60th Anniversary Dance Festival, Sept. 7-10. Other winners included dance medicine pioneer and Dean of the American Dance Festival, Martha Myers; and Louis Mofsie, Founding Artistic Director of the renowned Thunderbird American Indian Dancers. The event also included outstanding performances by Garth Fagan Dance Principal Dancers, Natalie Rogers-Cropper (Bessie award winner) and Vitolio Jeune.

“But "No Evidence of Failure," choreographed by Garth Fagan, was a piece I'll never forget seeing. Danced by the incomparable Natalie Rogers and Vitolio Jeune, the pair's worldly experience and wisdom was ever apparent. With stunning extensions and clean lines, the two complemented each other, like tides of the same wave riding into the shore. The dance continued like an evolving courtship, with repeated penchés expressing a continuous sense of longing.

Garth Fagan Dance Studios featured in Landmark Society Tour
On October 6th and 7th, The Landmark Society Inside Downtown Tour, continued its 14 year old tradition, by opening up downtown urban Rochester environments to visit re-purposed spaces, renovated homes, lovingly preserved places, and newly built sites. This year's tour included a stop at the historic Columbus Building which has housed Garth Fagan Dance for twenty-eight years. Lucky tour visitors received a special opportunity to view and sit in on a combined Fagan Technique/Hip Hop class, an 8-12 year old class, and a Company class!

Garth Fagan Dance Student Ensemble
The wonderful members of the Student Ensemble have been busy! In addition to rehearsals in preparation for their upcoming performances during the Garth Fagan Dance Home Season at Nazareth College Arts Center, select Ensemble members thrilled spectators with "POP UP" dances at the grand re-opening of the Hyatt Regency Hotel located in downtown Rochester. The students danced to classical renditions of tunes such as Michael Jackson's "Beat IT" to Sting's "Every Breath You Take". The students were poised and professional, representing Garth Fagan Dance in fine fashion!
